Parenthood is a dream of many couples and even before planning a child, some couples even start imagining their life with a baby. However, due to certain infertility disorders among male and female partners, the dream turns into anger, depression, stress, marital problems, sexual dysfunction and social isolation. In general, the infertile women show higher levels of distress than their male partners. Both men and women experience a sense of loss of identity and have pronounced feelings of defectiveness and incompetence. The outcome of infertility treatment may also be influenced by psychological factors. Such level of emotional stress and anxiety can affect the infertility treatment and may not specifically show any result in the treatment.
Infertility can be either due to a male or female partner or probably both the partners.
Depending upon the type of infertility, the treatment given to every couple is also different. For instance if the female bears a healthy reproductive system and the male suffers from a low sperm count or poor motility of sperms, then the method of artificial insemination can be useful. A woman is not required to involve in a sexual intercourse with the sperm donor, but the semen is injected into the uterus of the female partner. This non-sexual clinical method helps in establishing pregnancy in the female?s womb. Apart from sperm donation there are also various other technologies that assist the couples for conceiving depending on the type of infertility.Men who choose to donate sperm through a sperm bank have the security of knowing that they are helping childless couples to have children in circumstances where they as a biological father does not have any legal rights or duties towards the child produced through their semen. Whether the donor is anonymous or not, the most important factor involves is allowing sperm banks to recruit sperm donors and use their sperms to produce whatever number of pregnancies that can be conducted according to law. These banks also enable a woman to learn about the sex of her child, which can establish a greater control over the way families are planned.
Children born through such method have full right to know about their biological father after the child attains the age of eighteen years. In this regards, the sperm banks makes information available about the sperm donors to enable customers to know about the biological father of their child. The only advantage of using sperms from a licensed clinic or bank is that it has been tested, frozen and quarantined and that this arrangement is legally protected.
